Matthew 19:26
King James Version
26 But Jesus beheld them,
and said unto them,
With men this is impossible;
but with God all things are possible.
There's something you've probably never noticed.
But the HOLY SPIRIT made me notice.
In so many striking ways.
Through Scripture:
GOD delights in the humble.
He purposely chooses the humble.
The LORD's also got funny, quirky, unexpected, endearing ways.
Showing us He's got a sense of playfulness, trust, and humor.
And He astounds man no end.
But He does choose the humble.
For He delights in the guileless, and humble.
Even in the initially ignorant.
At least those who are ignorant of His power.
Here are a few examples SPIRIT brought me to --
On having Aaron speak for Moses:
Exodus 6:28-30
King James Version
28 And it came to pass on the day when the Lord
spake unto Moses in the land of Egypt,
29 That the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
I am the Lord:
speak thou unto Pharaoh king of Egypt
all that I say unto thee.
30 And Moses said before the Lord,
Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips,
and how shall Pharaoh hearken unto me?
Exodus 7:1-2
King James Version
7 And the Lord said unto Moses,
See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh:
and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.
2 Thou shalt speak all that I command thee:
and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh,
that he send the children of Israel out of his land.
Exodus 7:6-9
King James Version
6 And Moses and Aaron did
as the Lord commanded them, so did they.
7 And Moses was fourscore years old,
and Aaron fourscore and three years old,
when they spake unto Pharaoh.
8 And the Lord spake unto Moses
and unto Aaron, saying,
9 When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying,
Shew a miracle for you:
then thou shalt say unto Aaron,
Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh,
and it shall become a serpent.
Exodus 7:10
King James Version
10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh,
and they did so as the Lord had commanded:
and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh,
and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
On choosing Israel:
Deuteronomy 7:7
King James Version
7 The Lord did not
set his love upon you, nor choose you,
because ye were more in number than any people;
for ye were the fewest of all people:
On Bethlehem to be the birthplace of JESUS:
Micah 5:2
King James Version
2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah,
though thou be little among the thousands of Judah,
yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me
that is to be ruler in Israel;
whose goings forth have been from of old,
from everlasting.
On JESUS' love for who His disciples think are "inconsequential" children:
Matthew 18:1-5
King James Version
18 At the same time came
the disciples unto Jesus, saying,
Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
2 And Jesus called a little child unto him,
and set him in the midst of them,
3 And said,
Verily I say unto you,
Except ye be converted,
and become as little children,
ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
4 Whosoever therefore
shall humble himself as this little child,
the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5 And whoso shall receive
one such little child in my name
receiveth me.
Matthew 19:13-15
King James Version
13 Then were there brought unto him little children,
that he should put his hands on them, and pray:
and the disciples rebuked them.
14 But Jesus said,
Suffer little children,
and forbid them not, to come unto me:
for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
15 And he laid his hands on them,
and departed thence.
On "little" man, Zaccheus:
Luke 19:1-4
King James Version
19 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.
2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus,
which was the chief among the publicans,
and he was rich.
3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was;
and could not for the press,
because he was little of stature.
4 And he ran before, and climbed up
into a sycomore tree to see him:
for he was to pass that way.
Luke 19:5-6
King James Version
5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up,
and saw him, and said unto him,
Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down;
for to day I must abide at thy house.
6 And he made haste, and came down,
and received him joyfully.
Luke 19:7
King James Version
7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying,
That he was gone to be guest
with a man that is a sinner.
Luke 19:8-10
King James Version
8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord:
Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor;
and if I have taken any thing from any man
by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
9 And Jesus said unto him,
This day is salvation come to this house,
forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
10 For the Son of man is come
to seek and to save
that which was lost.
Neither does JESUS take offense when people underestimate Him.
The LORD was humble, and had no sense of "entitlement".
As these examples show:
John 1:43-46
King James Version
43 The day following
Jesus would go forth into Galilee,
and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida,
the city of Andrew and Peter.
45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him,
We have found him,
of whom Moses in the law,
and the prophets, did write,
Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
46 And Nathanael said unto him,
Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth?
Philip saith unto him, Come and see.
John 1:47
King James Version
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him,
and saith of him,
Behold an Israelite indeed,
in whom is no guile!
John 1:48-50
King James Version
48 Nathanael saith unto him,
Whence knowest thou me?
Jesus answered and said unto him,
Before that Philip called thee,
when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him,
Rabbi, thou art the Son of God;
thou art the King of Israel.
50 Jesus answered and said unto him,
Because I said unto thee,
I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou?
thou shalt see greater things than these.
John 1:51
King James Version
51 And he saith unto him,
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Hereafter ye shall see heaven open,
and the angels of God ascending
and descending upon the Son of man.
Even John the Baptist, CHRIST's cousin, was not immune to doubt:
Matthew 11:1-3
King James Version
11 And it came to pass,
when Jesus had made an end
of commanding his twelve disciples,
he departed thence to teach
and to preach in their cities.
2 Now when John had heard in the prison
the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
3 And said unto him,
Art thou he that should come,
or do we look for another?
Matthew 11:4-6
King James Version
4 Jesus answered and said unto them,
Go and shew John again those things
which ye do hear and see:
5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk,
the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear,
the dead are raised up, and the poor
have the gospel preached to them.
6 And blessed is he, whosoever
shall not be offended
in me.
But look how JESUS esteemed John:
Matthew 11:7-15
King James Version
7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say
unto the multitudes concerning John,
What went ye out into the wilderness to see?
A reed shaken with the wind?
8 But what went ye out for to see?
A man clothed in soft raiment?
behold, they that wear soft clothing
are in kings' houses.
9 But what went ye out for to see?
A prophet?
yea, I say unto you,
and more than a prophet.
10 For this is he, of whom it is written,
Behold, I send my messenger before thy face,
which shall prepare thy way before thee.
11 Verily I say unto you,
Among them that are born of women
there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist:
notwithstanding he that is least
in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12 And from the days of John the Baptist
until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence,
and the violent take it by force.
13 For all the prophets and the law
prophesied until John.
14 And if ye will receive it,
this is Elias, which was for to come.
15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
This born again workman laughed, rejoiced, and regaled, when she read these stories.
These examples show how big GOD's heart is.
How much He loves us, and believes in us.
How He gives us opportunities to be more.
No matter our "littleness", our mood, or mode.
And how He's the Author of Life, Love, and Laughter.
The LORD delights my childlike heart no end.
And I hope it does yours, too.
Lastly, if you think you are "forgotten", you're not.
GOD knows us all, and cares for us all.
You only need to call upon Him.
And remember Him, too.
